Da Nang Travel Guide
Vietnam's most liveable beach city — a long sweep of sand, the Golden Bridge in the hills, an international airport, and Hoi An and Hue both within easy reach.
Da Nang is central Vietnam’s gateway and its most relaxed major city — modern, clean, and built along a beautiful beach. With an international airport and Hoi An just 30 minutes south, it’s the perfect base for the centre of the country, and a comfortable spot to combine a beach stay with a dental treatment.
Top things to do
- My Khe Beach — kilometres of soft sand right beside the city.
- Ba Na Hills & the Golden Bridge — the giant hands holding a walkway, plus a cable-car mountain resort.
- Marble Mountains — caves, pagodas, and viewpoints in five marble-and-limestone hills.
- Dragon Bridge — breathes fire and water on weekend nights.
- Son Tra Peninsula — the Lady Buddha statue and coastal viewpoints.
Day trips
- Hoi An — UNESCO ancient town, ~30 min south. See the Hoi An guide.
- Hue — the imperial capital, ~2 hrs north over the scenic Hai Van Pass.
- My Son Sanctuary — ancient Cham temple ruins.
Where to stay
The My Khe / beachfront strip is the classic choice — resorts and hotels facing the sand. The area around the Han River in the city centre is handier for restaurants, nightlife, and clinics.
Best time to visit
Central Vietnam is driest and sunniest February–August. Avoid September–December, the rainy/typhoon season when flooding can occur. See the best time to visit Vietnam guide.
Getting there & around
Fly into Da Nang International (DAD), right beside the city. Grab covers taxis and motorbikes; many visitors rent a car-with-driver for the Hue and Hoi An runs.
Combine your trip with dental care
Da Nang’s modern clinics and resort beaches make it a relaxed alternative to the big cities for dental work — recover beside My Khe Beach between appointments, with Hoi An a short ride away. Treatment savings run the usual 50–70% below Western prices.
